I love destination weddings and this one at the Cathedral Peak hotel in the Drakensberg did not disappoint at all.
The mountains in the background made for stunning and dramatic images even when clouds came in later.
The day was filled with lots and lots of laughter and a good time was definitely had by all as seen on the pictures.
Thank you so much for making me part of your special day
Ryan and Carla were married at the beautiful Cradle valley venue in Muldersdrift. It was a lovely summer Sunday afternoon and the weather played along nicely.
Ryan who is from China made a heartwarming speech in Afrikaans during the ceremony that left few eyes dry. One of my favorite things to photograph at Cradle Valley is when the couple gets to burn their initials into a bridge with a flaming hot piece of metal. It is something completely different and makes for a striking photo.
Thank you so much for making me part of your special day.
Rebecca and Jared had to postpone their wedding a full year because of lockdown. They had a small and intimate ceremony on the day of lockdown in 2020 before having their big celebration a year later. I was lucky enough to be part of both special days and it was truly a pleasure spending so much time with them and their families. It was definitely worth the wait to celebrate with everyone at the stunning Rosemary Hill.
Nick and Kerry had their super fun wedding at the Bryanston Country Club in Johannesburg. What set this wedding apart was Kerry’s quirky and absolutely adorable idea for her bridesmaids. She had all her bridesmaids wear their own wedding dresses! How cool is that? It’s not something you see every day, and it made the whole affair even more special and personal. Seeing all those wedding dresses together was like a mini bridal fashion show and really brought a unique twist to the photos.
There was so much laughing, dancing, and a bunch of hilarious games at their reception that kept everyone on their toes. The vibe was just infectious, and you could tell that everyone was having the time of their lives.
The Bryanston Country Club was the perfect setting, giving me gorgeous scenes to work with from their touching ceremony to the wild dance moves and the friendly competition among guests.
Nick and Kerry’s wedding wasn’t just a celebration of their love; it was a big, happy party with all their nearest and dearest. Cheers to many more years of laughter and love for the happy couple!
Emily and Jared were married in downtown Johannesburg at the very cool Livingroomjozi venue. I just love shooting there because we can freely go into the surrounding streets and get candid documentary-style photos. People walk into the shots and interact with the bride and groom which makes for great moments that you won’t find anywhere else. The venue itself is beautiful and very moody. We finished our photoshoot on the roof overlooking the whole of Johannesburg. Definitely, one of the more unique venues to get married at. Thank you so much for making me part of your special day.
As a photographer, I have witnessed many weddings over the years, but Teddy and Taku's special day was truly one of a kind. The wedding was held at the beautiful Moon and Sixpence, a picturesque venue in Muldersdrift.
As I snapped away with my camera, capturing the happy couple exchanging their vows, a sudden downpour of rain took us all by surprise. The guests scattered, running for cover as the wedding party quickly huddled together under the altar. Despite the chaos of the moment, Teddy and Taku's faces remained serene, and their love for each other shone through even the darkest clouds. They embraced the situation with grace and humor, laughing and enjoying every moment of their day, no matter what the weather had in store for them.
Friends and family were quick to act and moved the ceremony into the chapel on the premises. Despite the change of plans, the ceremony continued seamlessly, with the same love and joy that had filled the air outside.
As a photographer, capturing these special moments for Teddy and Taku was an honor. Despite the unexpected turn of events, the day was filled with so much love, joy, and warmth. Even with the rainstorm, it was clear that this couple was meant to be together forever, and I was grateful to be a part of their journey.
Charl and Charlene were married at the amazing Monate game lodge outside Modimolle in the Limpopo province. We were so lucky to be able to do the couple shoot just as the giraffes arrived and it made for a truly special moment. The venue has one of the most spectacular outside reception areas tucked in between two rocks that creates a truly unique atmosphere. The ceremony took place under a very old big tree which also made for stunning photos.
Thank you very much for making me part of your special day.
Nestled in a charming suburb of Pretoria, Bell and Blossom served as the perfect backdrop for Jarod and Natasha's enchanting wedding day. This hidden gem of a venue, with its lush gardens and elegant ambience, created a fairytale setting for the couple's special day.
The couple's friendly and laid-back nature set the tone for a day filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt moments.
The ceremony took place amidst the picturesque surroundings, where the natural beauty of Bell and Blossom enhanced the romantic atmosphere. As Jarod and Natasha exchanged their vows, there was an undeniable sense of joy and connection that touched everyone in attendance.
Throughout the day, I had the pleasure of capturing the candid smiles, tender glances, and spontaneous bursts of laughter that made this wedding truly special.
As the sun set, Bell and Blossom transformed into a magical wonderland with twinkling lights and an intimate reception that brought family and friends together in celebration. The relaxed and friendly vibe continued into the night, creating an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
Gina and John's wedding day at The Silver Sixpence near Dullstroom was filled with unforgettable moments. Capturing the joy, love, and laughter was an absolute delight. Adding to the day's excitement, the Springboks triumphed over England in the World Cup semi-final that night. John and Gina had set up a big screen TV in the reception area, and guests went wild when the final whistle blew, securing the Boks' victory by just one point.
Morne and Beondi were married at a beautiful venue called Rustig, Afrikaans for peaceful. The venue is situated outside Hartbeespoort Dam in the Magalies mountains and definitely lives up to it’s name. The green gardens, lovely old houses and amazing views really does put one in a peaceful mood.
I’ve known Morne for many years and it was truly a privilege to photograph their wedding. He has always been full of jokes over the years and his wedding day was no different. One only has to look at the photos to see what happiness he brings to those around him.
I wish you and Beondi all the best for your future together.
Thank you very much for making me part of your special day.
Bernard and Nicole were married at Lace on Timber outside Pretoria. I was lucky enough to shoot Bernard’s brother’s wedding the year before. It is always special to photograph more than one wedding for a family. One really feels a lot more part of the whole day and everything that goes with it.
Thank you so much for making me part of your special day.
The beautiful wedding of Ross and Liezle at the Ox Box Country Estate.
Nava and John were married in the orchids of the Ganico organic farm on a beautiful and warm summer afternoon in Johannesburg. The couple got ready at Casalinga next door and arrived together to meet all their guests. The ceremony was full of emotion with lots of laughs and tears of joy. We were treated to a stunning sunset in the Casalinga forest and the couple shoot was lots of fun. Thank you very much for making me part of your special day :)
Willie and Bianca were married outside Dullstroom at the Silver Sixpence venue. It was a cold and rainy day which unfortunately forced them to move the wedding indoors. It was originally planned for the forest which was beautifully decorated. I do however enjoy shooting in rain, it makes for moody photos and gives a completely different look to the venue and surroundings. Thank you so much for making me part of your special day.
Cammy and Sean were married at the coolest brewery in Gauteng, the Black Horse. One of my favorite things about the venue is the fact that you can actually see into the brewery from the reception area. It has a huge glass window that looks in and is definitely very unique.
The property has beautiful green gardens laid out on different levels, also giving it a different look and feel.
Cammy was such a happy bride, smiling and laughing almost non stop making for lovely moments to capture.
Thank you very much for making me part of your special day.
George and Hettie were married in Durbanville at the beautiful D’Aria venue.
It was the wettest and coldest wedding that I’ve ever had to shoot but it was also one of the funnest.
The ceremony took place in the NG Moedergemeente Church that has a lot of history. It was officially opened on the 6th of August 1826 and must be the oldest church that I’ve shot in.
It really starting pouring down during the couple session but George and Hettie had a lot of fun in the rain.
The evening started with a couple of emotional speeches and ended with lots of laughter and dancing.
Thank you very much for making me part of your special day.
Refilwe and Vincent were married at the beautiful Inimitable wedding venue in Muldersdrift.
I will forever remember the day, not just because of the lovely couple but for the fact that the wedding was on the same day as the rugby world cup final.
The room did not have a tv and I couldn’t follow the game at all until one of the guests came in and streamed the game for us on her phone in the bridal room. Emotions ran high and hair and makeup had to be stopped so that the last couple of minutes could be watched.
The ladies went crazy as the final whistle blew and the Springboks won. It made for great and unique pictures, moments I don’t think I’ll capture again on a wedding day.
Thanks for making me part of your special day.
Pranseha and Randheer had their 10 year wedding anniversary at Oakfield Farm in Johannesburg. The couple approached the day as if it was their official wedding day.
What stood out was how emotional they both were when they saw each other for the first time before the ceremony.
It must be true love if you still cry when you see your partner after 10 years of marriage.
We were very lucky to have beautiful weather on the day and the rose garden made for beautiful sunset couple photos.
Thank you so much for making me and the team from Ducksoup productions part of your day.
Murray and Maira decided to het married in South Africa although they both live in Australia. Murray is originally from South Africa and Maira from Brazil. The Couple got married on a beautiful summer's day at the unique and beautiful Shepstone Gardens Wedding Venue in Johannesburg in an intimate Ceremony outside.
Their two sons spent every moment of the day with them, even during the ceremony which made for lovely pictures. There was even 'n diaper change during the couple shoot. The couple asked that they wanted myself and Daniel (second shooter) to capture as many moments of the two boys with them and the family as possible. Luckily that wasn't really a difficult thing do to.
Thank you Murray and Maira for sharing a small piece of your lives with us – it was an honour.
Jill and David were married at Toadbury Hall in the beautiful Muldersdrift area.
Jill, who is originally from Kenya, lives in Pretoria and her family traveled to South Africa to attend her wedding.
The venue, which has a distinct Natal Midlands feel to it, was green and lush and had a wonderful array of stunning and unique areas in which to photograph.
Jill was very relaxed while preparing for the ceremony - even typing out her vows after she had completed all her preparations for the big day.
The ceremony was held in the chapel on the property where both Jill and David experienced a whole range of emotions, which was incredibly special to witness.
The reception took place under a canopy next to a river at the bottom of the property.
Jill's father surprised David at the ceremony by giving him a set of keys for their home in Kenya and by telling him that he is always welcome there, even without notice. Their home is now his home. This was one of the loveliest gestures I've even experienced at a wedding. They truly welcomed him into their family, and it was heart-warming for all present.
Thank you for the privilege of being able to be a part of your most special day.

Paul and Nora were married in Soweto in a very unique way, the wedding was a combination of a traditional Xhosa wedding with some Scottish elements.
The wedding was visually very different and an absolute pleasure to photograph. The mixture of two completely different cultures melting together was beautiful and made for great photographs.
There was so much love and fun filled moments, one of the most unique was a man playing bagpipes dressed in his kilt in the middle of Soweto. I don’t think that has ever happened before.
Nora and Paul had another wedding the following week that will be loaded soon.
I’m truly honored to have captured this incredibly special day.
Ernst and David were married at The Silver Sixpence venue just outside Dullstroom. The venue has a beautiful forest in which the ceremony took place, horses that walk right up to you and an otter dam with a lovely view.
The brewery on the venue makes delicious beer and guests were treated to a dinner the night before.
The day was filled with fun, laughter and the best dance moves ever to Tom Petty’s Free Falling.
Thank you very much for making me part of your special day.
James and Mia were married in the St George’s Anglican church in Parktown which is one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever been in.
The huge organ in the back makes for a stunning backdrop with the local church choir providing an amazing atmosphere.
The outside of the church is just as stunning for pictures seeing that most of it is covered with Ivy already turning into its winter hues.
After the formalities at church we proceeded to the streets of Parktown where we shot the entourage.
The sunset and view at Fergusons on 5th had all the guests taking selfies and pictures of the 180 degree view over the Johannesburg cbd.
The old church and modern reception made for a lovely contrast in pictures.
Thank you for making me part of your special day.
Alia and Mohammed were married at the Ayana wedding venue in the south of Johannesburg.
Alia got ready at her parent’s house in Greenside with family and friends keeping her company. I’ve found that it is often very intimate and special when someone gets ready at their family home rather than at the venue.
It started raining during the ceremony but lucky for us all not that much and it cleared up quickly before causing any problems. There was so much happiness and joy afterwards with smiles hand hugs exchanging.
Another storm came past but again passed quickly just before the couple shoot started which made for an amazing dark blue backdrop.
It was a lovely day and so much fun to shoot.
Thank you very much for making me part of your special day.
Tarik and Michele were married at the Zulu Nyala Country Manor in Johannesburg. The day was an absolute joy to photograph with all the different customs exhibited during the ceremony. The ceremony was characterised by radiant and captivating colours and there was never a dull moment as there was so much with which to work.
Michele's hands and feet were intricately decorated with Henna tattoos and she looked exquisite in her traditional red dress.
For Tarik, the wedding started the previous evening with a function held by his mother and other women in the family. It started off with a private ceremony outside on the grass after which he and his parents had another inside. Once again, the variety of alluring colours and special attention to detail made it really fascinating to photograph.
I would like to thank Tarik and Michele for making me part of their special day. It was a truly unforgettable experience for me.
Karel and Steven were married at Arum Symphony in Johannesburg. The venue has beautiful wooden floors, fire places and antique furniture everywhere.
The morning started very relaxed with Karel and Steven getting ready at their home in Midrand. They got the coolest matching Converse I’ve seen in a long time making for a striking burst of colour.
The wedding itself was an intimate one with close friends and family attending in the garden of the venue.
We went to an old abandoned building close by for the couple shoot sneaking past security after which we got some lovely shots in the streets under the winter trees. .
The reception was filled with laughter and jokes followed by a hilarious photo booth session.
Thank you very much for making us part of your special day.

Aliyah and Freddie were married at the spectacular Nizamiye Mosque in Midrand.
Both parties got ready for the wedding at their respective homes in Johannesburg where family members played an important part in the preparations. The ceremony was a very intimate and emotional one with only a couple of family members and friends attending.
Aliyah and Freddie changed their outfits after the ceremony after which we headed out to the Ganico pomegranate farm in Muldersdrift for the couple shoot, where we got caught in a tremendous hailstorm.
We had to find shelter on the farm while we waited for the storm to pass, which is certainly something I won't forget!
The build up to the wedding was a lot of fun too - with a couple shoot in Newtown and Aliyah's birthday which I photographed a couple of weeks before the wedding.
Thank for making me part of your special day.
Caitlyn and Duncan were married at Imperfect Perfection in Pretoria East.
The venue was absolutely beautiful, scattered with many rustic, old doors and furniture - making it a pleasure to photograph.
On the morning of the wedding, Duncan and his groomsmen were treated to an old-school shave by a barber, while the bride and her bridesmaids enjoyed a morning of relaxation and pampering.
The ceremony was packed with emotion and much joy. The photo session with the bridal party was lots of fun and included one of Duncan's groomsmen clearing out some cow dung that was 'obstructing' the perfection of the pictures. Good man ... however, nobody wanted to hold his hand thereafter. :)
The newlyweds were blessed with an extraordinary sunset while the guests enjoyed drinks on a deck overlooking the farm.
Thank you to Caitlyn and Duncan - it was a privilege for me and Daniel to be a part of your special day.

Francette and De Villiers were married at the beautiful Andes wedding venue just outside Clarens in the Free State .
The town is surrounded by sand stone hills with which the Dutch Reformed church in town was built, and it's in this gorgeous church that the ceremony took place.
A misty morning greeted the couple, which made for a spectacular and eerie initial start to the day, but luckily the weather cleared up soon and we were able to see the mountains, which guaranteed a stunning backdrop.
The couple's shoot took a bit of a detour when we found that there were lambs in the vicinity. I’ve certainly never done a couple's shoot with sheep running around ... it was a lot of fun, and very different.
All the guests enjoyed the wedding tremendously and it was truly a lovely weekend for all involved.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day.
Gilles and Zane got married at the beautiful Toadbury hall in Mulderdrift just outside Johannesburg.
Zane is from South Africa and Zille from Sweden. Zille's family and friends flew down from Europe which made for a very interesting mix of languages and cultures on the day.
The dinner took place under trees in the garden with fairy lights lighting up the tables.

The wedding of Andre and Marielle at Monte de Dios in Pretoria.
Joanie and Tanya got married in a beautiful plantation just outside Paulpietersburg in Kwazulu Natal. The wedding was very intimate with family and close friends.
I've always wanted to shoot in a forest/plantation and it did not disappoint at all. It looked as if it might start raining just before the ceremony but luckily the rain stayed away and it was 'n lovely overcast afternoon.
Later in the evening the barn was transformed into a dance floor and someone even threw flower on the floor for a more authentic farm experience.

Below are some of the images.
Nora and Paul had their second wedding at Moon and Sixpence after their traditional Xhosa wedding the week before in Soweto.
Although Paul was still in his Scottish kilt, Nora now wore a white dress instead of her traditional Xhosa one.
The day was filled with fun and laughter as the week before with the family from Scotland still in South Africa.
I spent almost a year in regular contact with Paul and Nora starting with their couple shoot.
Thank you very much for making me such a big part of your special journey, you were truly amazing.
Gerhard and Anneke were married at the lovely Fraaigesig wedding venue hidden away in the east of Pretoria. The venue is in the middle of a suburb and it is difficult to believe that such a little paradise is located in a suburban area.
The ceremony was held in a forest on the property with a calm and relaxing feel to it as the wind blew through the trees and leaves on the ground.
We had a beautiful sunset for the photos with lots of opportunities and spots to photograph at whilst the guests were enjoying lawn games next to the lake.
The reception was held at a church where Gerhard works and it was truly a beautiful evening filled with joy, happiness and praise.
Thank you so much for making me part of your special day.
Jannie and Carina were married in the heart of Magoebaskloof at the majestic Eden’s Gate venue.
It had been raining the whole week and luckily cleared up on the day of the wedding.
The ceremony took place at the bottom of the valley surrounded by forest and a strong flowing river.
Carina’s red dress stood out beautifully from the green forest that almost swallowed them in during the couple session which made for lovely colourful images.
Thank you very much for making me part of your special day.
Hannes and Anel were married at the beautiful Forum Homini in Muldersdrfit. This is one of my favourite venues to shoot at because of it's very unique architecture and variety of locations to use.
The day started off scorching hot and it started pouring down later just as the ceremony started. Luckily it was held inside but the traditional throwing of the flower petals couldn't take place outside and had to be done inside although it made it different than most other weddings.
After raining for about 45min it cleared up and I was fortunate enough to shoot the couple in the most beautiful light. We even got a rainbow in the background, something that doesn't happend often and the dark storm clouds that moved over made for a very dramatic skyline.
The reception was a very cheerful one with constant laughs during the speeches. Poor Hannes had a really tough time doing his due to the boys spraying him with webs all the time but it made for very funny photos.
Thank you very much for making me part of your special day.
Geoff and Claire got married at Cheerio Gardens in the stunning Magoebaskloof area just outside Polokwane which is situated in the Limpopo province.
Most of the guests were lucky enough to stay in the Magoebaskloof Hotel hotel which is approximately 6 kilometers away from the wedding venue. The hotel overlooks the lush, green Magoebaskloof valley, which is truly a spectacular sight. The rooms are quaint and comfortable and the hotel has a very intimate bar where the guests could relax on the night before the wedding.
As I know Geoff, Claire, and most of the guests who attended, I had a really fun time shooting the wedding.
Thank you very much for letting me capture the memories of your special day.

Lisa and Maretha were married on the beautiful, unique green banks of the Klipriver in Henley-on-Klip. The intimate ceremony included only family and close friends, and was held at a family member of Maretha's.
Those invited enjoyed a special reception with a picnic-like feel to it, with guests sitting on blankets in the shade of an ancient tree. The wedding-goers could later treat themselves to soft serve ice cream from an VW old ice cream truck, as well as gourmet burgers also served from a mobile truck.
The balmy weather made for a perfect day, and to suit it were boat rides, offered on the river.
I have known Lisa for some time - having had the privilege of working with her in the media industry. It's always intimidating to do a shoot for another super talented photographer, and I feel tremendously honoured for being able to capture one of the most treasured days in her life.
Thank you very much for making me a part of your wonderful day.
Daniella and Phillip were married at the very colorful Ludwig’s Roses outside Pretoria. The ceremony was held in a beautiful old cathedral in town.
It was an extremely hot and humid day with heavy showers in the afternoon luckily clearing up before the couple shoot started.
So many roses were in bloom and it made for stunning photos with the couple walking through the rows and rows on the property.
It was truly a great wedding and lovely venue to photograph at.
Sarah and Mark got married at Forum Homini in Muldersdrift just outside Johannesburg.
The venue has really interesting architecture which makes for very creative angles and compositions not normally seen at wedding venues. The day started off with light drizzle and ended with a rain storm.
Shooting in the rain was a bit challenging but luckily the couple didn't mind getting a bit wet.
Brian and Livia got married in the Shelanti Chapel in Centurion. They chose an exceptional venue for their wedding reception - the beautiful Rovos Rail train which has been restored to its former glory and made the guests feel as though they were back in the 1930s, travelling in absolute luxury. This was a truly unique experience for the newlyweds and for those who attended.
Brian hired a black Chevrolet Corvette with a stunning red interior for his photo session. His best man, who is a chef in France, flew to South Africa for the occasion, and the two spent some time catching up and enjoying a relaxing breakfast before the preparations for the ceremony started.
Livia got dressed at her parents' home and her two beloved pugs were spoilt and dressed up appropriately for the big day too.
Thank you very much for letting me capture the memories of your special day.
